Supporting Families through Cancer
The diagnosis of a child, adolescent or young adult with cancer can feel overwhelming to parents and families and present unexpected psychological, emotional and social challenges. Connecticut Children’s Center for Cancer & Blood Disorders offers a variety of support services to help families navigate this unfamiliar experience.
Psychologists, social workers, Child Life specialists, and our Family Resource Center provide patients and families emotional support, counseling services, resources, education and guidance to adapt to the challenges a cancer diagnosis brings. Our psychosocial team strives to understand each family’s unique strengths and abilities to help them cope with a cancer diagnosis, treatment and beyond.
